Another excellent day with an easier start and most of the group over the Pass and moving well towards the first goal at 80km. Due to a radio misunderstanding Indy and Simon, first at the 80km goal, landed there. However the day was for continuing and we pushed on in the hope that Simon and […]
Cam, who flew for the first time with us yesterday (he has been ill since his arrival) managed a top to bottom and an evening soar for an hour or so. Cam, like Ian last week, has arrived with only a CP to his name and essentially no experience, so every bit counts. Hopefully his […]
Saturday was a great day with various over the Pass, notably Ian, on his first week of paragliding post Cp. Sunday, nice conditions for those who stayed on with Cu and only Michael going over the Pass.
Fantastic conditions with perfect Cu around 3300m. Most went from PN towards the Pass then moving N towards Salamanca, Richard to its East for a PB of 62.5km and Hugh to West for a similar distance. Both Joe and Dave tried to make it back, Dave making around 100km. I flew with Alan on the […]
Todays forecast lived up to expectations with climbs to 3300m, light winds and strong thermals. Johan made it back from 50km out to the NW of Avila, and Nick on his FIRST EVER Xc, made 54.8km. Marshal also made it a good deal back from Avila to near the Pass. An epic day. Also […]
The end of the week dinner at our place. A week of some stunning flying and 6 big PBs, 5 over 150km and 2 over 200km.
A big day from Lastra today with Gunnar making his PB of 175km. Curiously, his last PB was in 1995 in the PWC race task I set to Acrones from La Lastra. That 170km goal was something of a revelation in the PG world when around 50 pilots made it. Even now nearly 20 years […]
This week we are blessed with nice easy XC conditions, though the light winds tend to give us convergence and often a quartering headwind in the Avila Valley. Most of us opted yesterday for a circuit around the Piedrahita Valley. Laurence went over the Pass for a 4 hour flight on his Ozone Buzz 3 […]
The forecast was for an epic day to Arcones but the weather forecast was wrong with the W winds which were light so the N came in after the Pass. Only Bart and Denis went over and Bart valiantly pushed on for his PB with a flight of 50km to just short of Avila. […]
Lighter winds and in the valley we should feel more of a NW and maybe more N at Avila which may stop us there if we are low. This should be a nice day for paragliding XC. Geert will have it difficult to beat his new PB though as the wind is lighter. Must […]
