Much Better. PB for Andrew

May 30th, 2013 - Posted by Steve Ham

We now have more influence of the Azores high and the upper level instability has moved Eastwards.  Winds still may be a little strong mid afternoon,  but we should get some decent flying out of the day.  thermal tops around 2600m.         What Happened: Not so bad.  Nice early soaring and then […]

Cool Moderate NW and upper level instability. Not good!

May 29th, 2013 - Posted by Steve Ham

Temperatures continue to be low, with snow level around 1800m level.  The moderate NW will make it unlikely to be safely flyable during much of the day.  Perhaps at the end of the day.  Brighter and lighter tomorrow.

Rain, but some prospects at the end of the day

May 28th, 2013 - Posted by Steve Ham

A cold front going through this morning, hence the rain falling, and if we could see through that dense rain, then there is likely to be snow on the top 100m at take off.  It should clear by the end of the day and the winds may moderate sufficiently for an evening flight.   What […]

May 24th, 2013 - Posted by Steve Ham

What Happened. A warmer day than anticipated and strongish, though rough thermals and light N wind.  Most of the group fizzled out after about an hour around Santiago de Collado.  Decent evening flying as well.

This is more like it!

May 23rd, 2013 - Posted by Steve Ham

Lighter winds which have come a little more to the West. A bit inverted at 2500mm but we should see higher climbs by the end of the afternoon. Probably worth trying for Avila.

NE winds, more stable

May 22nd, 2013 - Posted by Steve Ham

A sunny day in general, though the instability is less so that early morning XC will not be so easy.  Perhaps a little top end with the NW wind.   What happened. some decent thermalling around the valley during the early afternoon and a big restitution flight in the evening.

Lightish N-NE

May 21st, 2013 - Posted by Steve Ham

The instability is moving south and today should be a little better though a good deal of  Stratus later in the day perhaps.
