British Championships 2017 T shirt design

May 12th, 2017 - Posted by Steve Ham

Just before my UK holiday last week I was asked to do a design for the championship.  Something very british.  After the usual dozen or so thumbnail idea sketches I came upon the idea of Boris Johnson and Teresa May in a King Kong like scene at Big Ben. Here are a few sketches of […]

Naviter Open in Macedonia Design.

April 21st, 2017 - Posted by Steve Ham

Naviter is a flight instrument company, GPS, Vario etc.  I tried to show a bit of navigational stuff in the design.  The perspective idea is robbed a little from my Tin Tin design for the Belgians I did at the end of last year. The event is in Macedonia and  a sister event to the […]

September 26th, 2016 - Posted by Steve Ham

A  nice day with a light N flow, though inverted a little above take off.  Climbs to 2600m later in the afternoon.  Good prospects for a modes flight to Barco or to Tornavacas Pass.

Sunday 21st.

A memorable day as the van broke down on the way to the airport.  However, all good with new hire van.  Evening flight for the new Derbyshire/Dales group with a smoothish N wind.

Excellent thermals to 3000m +

August 15th, 2016 - Posted by Steve Ham

Winds on the strong side to the SW but dropping a little later in the afternoon and moving more West.  An inversion around 3000m, but in some of the convergence areas we may find some large stacked clouds or Congestus.  Storms unlikely.   Good convergence along the Avila Valley N side.  The wind may come […]

Really excellent conditions

August 2nd, 2016 - Posted by Steve Ham

This will be another remarkable XC day.  Good for Open XC and also OK for the return, but today I imagine we can set Segovia as a goal.  Generally a westerly flow and less chance of N at Avila.  A base a little higher than yesterday, but not much above 3400m, so we should be […]

Not a bad looking day with a lighter N NE flow, probably NW in the valley with climbs reaching upper 2000m, maybe 3000m by the end of the afternoon .   Good for local circuits, even Barco and Back.

159km Pb for Catherine on Monday, and 70km on Sunday for Tommy

July 19th, 2016 - Posted by Steve Ham

Very big day yesterday with which Catherine managed to push her PB by 50km or so to 159km flying to the north of Zamora, a route hardly ever made.  Also on Sunday Tommy made 70km , his 3rd pb of the week.

Weather Wednesday June 29th.

June 29th, 2016 - Posted by Steve Ham

We continue with the heat low and have a trough to our south with most of the Cb action there and to our East.  Our area has a reduced Cb problem and we should be ok today.  However, the winds are stronger which will make flying XC beyond Avila very difficult to day.  Any convergence […]
