250km on Saturday

September 5th, 2016 - Posted by Steve Ham

Our last day for the DSC was a little frustrating in that the winds was a little variable and dust devil prone till later afternoon.  Most of  our pilots eventually flew, most doing nice circuits of the valley, with Flo going to Avila and Richard about 35km to the North. The Geneva group who got […]

3000m and convergence from Ambles to NE.

September 3rd, 2016 - Posted by Steve Ham

Looking like an excellent day if we believe the RASP reports.  Excellent climbs and much reduced Cu, though still likely to get tall along the convergence which  will  run from Muñogalindo to the NE in a typical way.  Wind  at 9am 14km/hr SE, but likely to come onto PN.  A  capping inversion to keep the […]

West flow and 3000m +

September 2nd, 2016 - Posted by Steve Ham

Potentially a very good day with good quality climbs, some Cu, but capped by an inversion so Cu tops should not go much higher than 4000m.  A classic convergence line swinging to NE of Avila from the Sierra de Avila , so potentially a 100km + day, however, some larger build ups may happen along […]

Limited flying due to storms

September 2nd, 2016 - Posted by Steve Ham

Yesterday just a shortish flight from Richard at Lastra…conditions very poor (crossed and variable winds) and an evening flight at PN after the storms had decayed.

Light NW, good climbs but more instability

September 1st, 2016 - Posted by Steve Ham

A day with good XC potential if things do not get out of hand.  A nice convergence line leading NE after the pass, a line we have had much this year and given us many bps.  The problem may be the build up of  stacked Cu and congestus and  possibly Cbs.  However the CAPE seems […]

Barco and return for Chris and Steve W.

September 1st, 2016 - Posted by Steve Ham

Excellent condition yesterday with climbs to 3000m with many in Barco and  Steve and Chris easily returning.  I flew the tandem with Geoff to Barco.  Nice evening conditions, but the beginnings of large stacked Cu.
