N flow again. 2600m max, light winds

September 17th, 2016 - Posted by Steve Ham

Similar to yesterday with reasonable potential to fly Westwards.  A marked inversion around 2200m, but likely climbs to around 2500m later in the afternoon.  Nice gentle N winds starting NW and moving more to NE

2 XCs to Barco

September 17th, 2016 - Posted by Steve Ham

Yesterday we finally had some nice conditions for the Avon club with an early XC down to Barco , then an evening flight to the same.  Airtime record for Richard Harding, who spent 5 .5 hours in the air, staying up after we did an early morning flight down until arrival in Barco.

NNW flow, c2600m

September 16th, 2016 - Posted by Steve Ham

Wind acceptable at PN at 8.30, and forecast to drop more.  So finally, a day with some sort of promise!.  A North flow with climbs not much over 2600m, and an inversion around 2200m.  Decent enough for XC towards Barco de Avila.

Strongish NW wind.

September 15th, 2016 - Posted by Steve Ham

Once again we have difficult uncoperative conditions with a strong WNW flow and a significant depth of stratocumulus.  However, Cbs unlikely.  Dynamic lift on the main ridge and NW facing hills will of course be good, but the wind strength may not allow us to fly until late afternoon again.

Light winds and N flow

September 10th, 2016 - Posted by Steve Ham

Not disimilar to the previous 2 days with good thermal quality once things get going.  Once again inverted, but climbs to 2600m by mid afternoon .  Likely convergence across the valley at Muñogalindo.  Once gain, flights to Avila, or Perhaps Barco direction.  A bit more north today, but also lighter.  Maybe a circuit around the […]

Yet more flights to Avila

September 10th, 2016 - Posted by Steve Ham

Yesterday gave good strong thermic climbs after a slow start with Graham first over the Pass and to Avila followed by Brian and Gavin.  Others stayed in the valley, with Simon making it home from the Pass.  I did a thermic flight with Kobus. The evening soar was spectacular with a major restitution giving smooth […]
