Back in the harness

Not much flying so far this year for me, what with quite a harsh winter, lots of other projects and a recent wrist operation. However, yesterday we had some classic conditions at Peña Negra, which somehow cooincided with interest in tandem passengers. Three great thermal flights with the last landing a few minutes after sunset.
Today the season really gets underway for us with our first group arriving from Italy this afternoon.
This is going to be a very busy year for us, with both the Spanish Nationals and the FAI World Championships. With the deep financial crisis in Spain we have had some significant problems in fulfilling the budget for the Worlds. Jose Luis and myself went to the CIVL plenary in Feburary to ask for permission for a rise in entry fees which has allowed us to continue with the project.
This last week finally the Provincial Government have woken up to some of their promises and now amazingly we are to get 3000m2 of Astro Turf for the take off. Goodbye dusty gliders and snagged lines.
