Wednesday 20th July, Evening flight only

July 21st, 2016 - Posted by Steve Ham

The Calima seems to be moving away and the winds dropping. We managed an evening soar with a 9.5 km glide down the valley to make things a bit more interesting.

Too strong until later in day

July 20th, 2016 - Posted by Steve Ham

Not a good day but with the heat starting to drop and the dusty air perhaps reducing.  Too strong to contemplate this morning, but late afternoon does seem OK.

SW convergence day.

July 19th, 2016 - Posted by Steve Ham

A day for going to La Lastra again with strongish SW flow.  If we look at rasp, then perhaps too strong, but the Spanish Meteo site is show less wind.  Liely convergence in Avila Valley and after Avila moving more NE.  Less base and less chance of clouds today except in the convergence areas.  Once […]

159km Pb for Catherine on Monday, and 70km on Sunday for Tommy

July 19th, 2016 - Posted by Steve Ham

Very big day yesterday with which Catherine managed to push her PB by 50km or so to 159km flying to the north of Zamora, a route hardly ever made.  Also on Sunday Tommy made 70km , his 3rd pb of the week.

Base at 3800m with convergence running North

July 18th, 2016 - Posted by Steve Ham

A hot day with temperatures to 34ºC +.  Trigger temperature around 29ºC, but after that a temp trace with no inversions until 4000m, quite a contrast on last week.  Winds to the  south and not so strong perhaps within the boundary layer, but due to thermal strength we will get strong local thermic winds on […]

Lighter winds and higher thermal climbs.

July 15th, 2016 - Posted by Steve Ham

PB for Tommy and Juan

July 15th, 2016 - Posted by Steve Ham

Yesterday with lighter winds and slightly higher climbs we had a good day, though once again without big distances.  However, both Juan and Tommy achieved their personal bests.  We stopped before Tornavacas.

Similar but perhaps better.

July 14th, 2016 - Posted by Steve Ham

Slightly lighter winds and a little warmer giving a better thermic day.  Once again quite inverted bellow take off level and a NE flow.  Perhaps today we may venture down further than Barco!

Goal in Barco once again.

July 14th, 2016 - Posted by Steve Ham

A weak inverted day and then strong climbs and stronger winds as we reached Barco.  Most of the group there yesterday, then a decent evening soar.
