Yesterday we had some decent soaring in the early afternoon but keeping to the valley and a way from the Pass. The evening was too strong for flying.
Likely convergence over the Gredos mountains and acceptable winds earlier on at Peña Negra. A post cold frontal situation with likely Cu development later on but also more wind in the afternoon. Once again a good soaring day with light winds from the NW to N. There should be the convergence area around Muñogalindo today. Nice day yesterday with most making Barco on a first flight then circuit flying on a second flight around the Piedrahita valley plus and evening soar. Excellent 4/8 cu sky for most of the day until some cirrus came in towards close of day.
Looking like a fresher day with more instability and better themal quality. Winds moving around from NW to N as the day progresses. Probably best for circuit flying towards Barco.
Yesterday more stable and more wind with just Andy going over the Pass but landing near Muñana.
A good thermal soaring day once again with mainly blue thermal tops to around 3000m . More wind than the last days and more chance of being pushed to the south of the Avila valley and difficulty in keeping N after Avila.
Another exceptional day yesterday with top flight to Acrones landing field for Andy. Joe back at windmills and Duncan and Dennis in the Avila Valley. Not so classic as the previous day, not flying in the convergence , but with thermal tops not much higher than 3000m making it easier in the Notam section.
Once again on the hill at PN but with a little more NW than yesterday and the convergence will be back on the hills after Avila. Tbhis means it won’t be so easy to get over 100km as the easy flying goes through the airspace. However, another great day! Here are a few maps, but […]
Great day again yesterday, with Joe doubling his PB of yesterday with a massive 150km. Duncan more than tripled his PB with a flight of 85km.
