Over the pass.

A nice forecast with good Cus. Our early morning task was a flight to the Long Bar (achieved only by Jan), then over the pass on the XC flight, crossing on the plateau to the north of the pass (Jan with best distance to Amavida (25km). The evening flight gave some gentle soaring, but not the powerful restitution of two days ago. A dinner for the group of Spinach with bechamel and pine nuts and then Pork. The next few days are holidays throughout Spain, so a number of Spanish pilots are arriving (and some Austrian) and the town is filling up with vacationers.

We beat the forecast and did a spot of beekeeping

With a forecast of high westerlies we still managed to fly before it came through, with good thermals and wind still below 15km when we landed. During the afternoon, Roel and myself checked out the progress of my Bee hives, most importantly my Warré style hives in Tortoles. Big Evening Conditions

A nice looking day with good Cu streeting, but too much wind until the evening flight. Our Dutch groups spent the afternoon sightseeing in Salamanca. Taking off from the curve, we found huge smooth restitution lift and were easy able to fly to the corrals and back. (see evening flight tutorial).

At last! Planning permission for new house.

We had some very good news yesterday. The planning permission for our new home (just below the big spine) has finally come through after almost two years of waiting. The excavations have now started and I have taken a photo on my glide back from the pass. Read the rest of this entry »
