Over the pass and back.

Our flying season is now well under way, yesterday our group of 8 Dutch pilots arrived from the airport in time for an evening flight, and today we have had excellent light wind conditions with a fantastic convergence line marked by cumulus at around 3000m. The scenery is especially pretty at the moment as the mountains are capped with fresh snow. On our XC flight today Jan and I were able to cross the pass in the convergence. On the other side we encountered a north east wind so decided to turn back to Piedrahita just before Amavida (some 25km out). Jan got a bit low and landed near Villatoro, and I had an easy run back without turning all the way back to Piedrahita.

The evening gave us some smooth ridge running, with Jan once again getting the most out of the conditions completing most of the length of the mountain and finishing the day with nearly 7 hours airtime.
