Light N, Nice Cu 2600-2800m

A warm pleasant day with good thermic conditions. Pete flew eary and I did a late afternoon tandem flying locally and going to 2600m with upto 4m/s climbs even around 6pm. Looks like tomorrow is the last decent day for some days to come.

Light NW, nice blue thermals

An early commercial tandem or me, having to land before 1pm so the client could get to work. Pete missed the climbs on that flight, and unfortunately, on the second flight managed to have a RTFM problem with his Top Nav (turned of sound) causing him to fly through most of the climbs.

Light wind, blue skies and climbs to 2300m

Pete took our group back to the airport whilst I flew 4 commercial tandems in very pleasant thermic conditions. Autumn does feel like it is closing in, but we are still being served up some great days like yesterday and today. Pete and I alone for the next few days so we will concentrate on getting him over the pass for the first time.

Nice Autumn thermalling

A very pleasant day with very light winds from the N. Even on the early flight the thermals were abundant, though low, allowing Crispin and myself to have a good stab at Barco, most of the others fizzling out at Santiago. The second flight was fantasic with big easy climbs out in the valley. The evening flight was marred by the arrival of stronger E wind. Though all in all a good finish to a tricky weather week……….though we did get to fly every day!

Back to Peña Negra

Low cloud to start and a little breezey. A nice early flight for all landing E of town. For the second light we could not get off due to the presence of the angry farmer who was hanging around the lower launch (too windy at the top). I investigated a new take off on the track to Santiago (a bit higher than the Chalets). It was ok and I climbed out. The others were not so impressed with it. Epic evening flying with big climbs in dynamic and thermals till late.

Poor conditions. Fly down at PN

Overcast the whole day. We tried Lastra in the morning, but too crossed to the West. A late afternoon bit of soaring and down flight at Peña Negra when the wind came on, though ruined by a bit of drizzle.

S 15-20km, 2600m. Lastra again

An nice morning flight from Lasta with easy climbs though not to so high. Of those who flew, Crispin and Pete landed on the N110. I managed to climb out and flew to the N of the Piedrahita valley then flew upwind to land at home ( a shame since downwind to Salamanca was on). A very nice evening flight with every body but Steve getting high and going over the back.

Lastra flight again

Light winds in the Corneja valley and a great looking sky, but strong winds during the morning at Lastra due to some foen effect. Light winds at Chia, the other southerly, but too crossed for an easy launch. We finally flew at Lastra at around 6.30 with a huge lift band and mellow thermals shared by a multitude of vultures. Most of us went over the back to land at San Lorenzo.

Over the back at Lastra

A poor forecast so early to Lastra and a successfull climb out for all. Loads of Vultures, Black and Griffon, helping us find the climbs. The sky was getting a little overdeveloped after less than an hours flying, so we landed mostly over the back, but with Phil and Alan in front. Cb developement for the rest of the day so and early dinner.

Festival de Vuelo del Club

Quite a busy flying weekend with the local club´s flying festival. Today a very nice sky filled with Cu at around 2900m. I flew a tandem late in the day enjoying nice climbs on both ridge and the Valley. A number of our group (Phil and Alan et al) have been stuck at airports with delayed and cancelled flights. Hopefully we will see them in the morning.
