3500m SW/ PBs for Alan and Chris

July 18th, 2013 - Posted by Steve Ham

Classic  conditions for convegence and big open xc beyond Avila.  Drier airmass, but still with Cu, though hopefully less build up than yesterday. Light winds from N. Good thermals to 3200m

July 17th, 2013 - Posted by Steve Ham

Light winds and likely wary on to be from the N.  This should  make launching at PN easier.  The section shows to Segovia, but some risk of large congestus.  An out and return towards Barco or the NE may be a better option. What Happened A nice day but with very powerful conditions by […]

3500m+ SW, good quality thermals(mainly blue) and convergence.

July 16th, 2013 - Posted by Steve Ham

Most of the upper level instability has moved more north .  According to the skew T we should have mainly blue thermal, though some build up in the convergence is likely.   Wind from SW will give us the classic convergence for flights towards Segovia. What Happened It did not come onto PN until […]

July 15th, 2013 - Posted by Steve Ham

Relatively light SW winds so it should come onto PN reasonably early.  Forecast for storms is mainly for   more to our NE however, we should expect congestus build up from quite early.  this of course is going to restrict our flying today (and tomorrow).  We must stay out of the Ambles valley and […]

3500m light winds from S. More instability

July 13th, 2013 - Posted by Steve Ham

After yesterdays epic day we have something similar regarding winds, but perhaps greater risk of storms.  South wind which is again quite light and probably will come on to PN.  However, we may want to get going early like yesterday so may go once again to Lastra. The track below is the  same as Nigel’s […]

July 12th, 2013 - Posted by Steve Ham

Forecast and Plan Still under the influence of the heat low with a trough to the N of the Peninsula.  The Skew T looks less threatening today with a little more stability from around 3000m which reduced the threat of Cbs.  The wind is SW and because of the relative stability of […]

PB for Bart, 80km and 99km for Mark and Beat

July 10th, 2013 - Posted by Steve Ham

Website up and running this morning so here is the weather blog!  Yesterday was a bit windy and rough and only Felix flew. Light SE climbs over 3500m. Circuits and PB for Mike.

July 5th, 2013 - Posted by Steve Ham

Lighter SE winds but some risk of congestus.  A good reason to follow yesterdays flight direction .  Wind is also more favourable for that.  it should come onto PN with this windspeed, but we could change launch to Chia. What Happened A very nice day with climbs to around 3600 and convergence out in front. […]
