Still North, but perhaps lighter.

July 10th, 2014 - Posted by Steve Ham

Situation. Still under the influence of the extensive Atlantic high and a northerly airflow.  Today perhaps not so inverted and a little less windy.  Once again winds at low levels light, but we can expect them to  increase by the evening as mix down occurs. Once again we should fly to the West, and […]

NE, still pretty inverted.

July 9th, 2014 - Posted by Steve Ham

We continue with high pressure and a northerly flow.  Things will really depend upon the ground temperature getting up.  We have a strong inversion early on around 200m above take off which will ease as the afternoon goes on.  Once again, like yesterday quite scrappy turbulent climbs only really getting sorted quite late in […]

July 4th, 2014 - Posted by Steve Ham

Situation The instability will only affect the Pyrenees and Cantabria today.  We will have a sunny day with blue thermals to above 3000m and a NW wind. Task suggestions The wind will be around 15 o 20km an hour and a little crossed at launch but will still come onto the take off well […]

A bit less wind

June 21st, 2014 - Posted by Steve Ham

Less wind today but still from the SW and unlikely to come onto Peña Negra.  Acceptable level at low levels but windy at altitude.  Still unstable enough to generate Cbs.  Still not the best of days but worth having a look this morning  unless by 11am it is coming in strong in the valley.

West wind. Marcella over the Pass

June 3rd, 2014 - Posted by Steve Ham

A high pressure day with the winds now in the west, probably not in excess of 20 km inour flying levels. Good thermal quality and good potential for open XC towards Avila and beyond. Thermals to around 2500 and going to 3000m by end of afternoon in hot spots. We will talk a bit about […]

June 1st, 2014 - Posted by Steve Ham

We have high pressure centred over the Azores which extends across to western Europe.  There is a heat low in the south of Spain and an isolated depression over the peninsula which will move east.   This will make the atmosphere more unstable but only cause problems with storms to the south east and later […]

Not that good really!

September 25th, 2013 - Posted by Steve Ham

Situation The depression is slowy creeping across from the Atlantic, though being held at bay a little by the high pressure to the  East.   Winds once again quite strong at altitude so things maybe similar to yesterday but with increased Cu development and more cirrus.

SW winds and deeper Cu

September 24th, 2013 - Posted by Steve Ham

Situation The slow approach of the low in the Atlantic is beginning to get the upper level winds a bit higher from the SW.  Today more Cu and thicker.  As the week advances these Cu will be more Congestus and Cbs by Friday.  Saturday we will get frontal rain, however, we may get some reasonable […]
