Some Evening flight yesterday: Prospects today Bad.

July 6th, 2017 - Posted by Steve Ham

After some reasonable evening flying at Lastra yesterday, today we have a very Stormy day with almost no possibility of flying with safety.

348km and 135km Declared Goals.

July 5th, 2017 - Posted by Steve Ham

The meteo was spot on yesterday.  Both Ian and Johan achieved the goal and Tordesillas.  Placed just short of the Valladolid airspace.  A spanish pilot , Godo, made an open distance of 348km landing not far from the Cantabrian coast.  A new European record I think, and about the 4th or 5th claimed from our […]

60km triangle and 4000m

July 3rd, 2017 - Posted by Steve Ham

Today turned out to be pretty much as forecast and planned.  Ian , Pete and I did a 60km triangle to beyond Puente de Congosto, Barco and home, whilst the other mainly at Barco.  A tremendous day with climbs to  4000m at the end of the afternoon.  Here are Ian and Pete’s tracks.  Ian’s flight […]

Flights down to Barco

July 2nd, 2017 - Posted by Steve Ham

A break in the poor weather of the previous days and easterly flow but a little inverted.  Enough for some 20km flights to Barco for most of the group.  Strong climbs and a little rough.  Easy evening flying but the E component kept us on the PN spur.

Segovia Goal. 115km PB for Johan

June 26th, 2017 - Posted by Steve Ham

A post cold frontal day, though we all managed to bomb out after the first flight at around 12.15.  However, on the second attempt, braving the rather spicy conditions at launch, we found easier conditions.  Juansa was the first to go for the Pass, myself, Johan, Bill and Fred reluctant to commit to the end […]

5 over the Pass but down by 40km

June 24th, 2017 - Posted by Steve Ham

A tricky day.  In fact in Pedro Bernardo the Spanish nationals had a canned day. PB is actually SW, and we are NW at Peña Negra.  Always seem amazing how the wind bends and curves and the local micro met allows us to fly well in the lee when PB in the windward was blown […]

3x 100km + and 1 Personal Best

June 22nd, 2017 - Posted by Steve Ham

An excellent day finding ourselves early at Lastra.  For Lastra it was a gentle climb out and not too much wind early in the day.  A few early drop outs, but myself and Ulf flew to a nominated goal at Medina del Campo, around 115km.  Steve Bishop, a little behind was aiming for the Cuellar […]

Over the Pass, but overdevelopment. 85km for Koen.

June 16th, 2017 - Posted by Steve Ham

A good forecast for thermals with good climbs for all soon after launch in light winds from NW.  Over the Pass we went but a growing cloud made us decide to land early.  Koen however did carry on to about 85km

42km for Tim and 10 over the Pass

June 15th, 2017 - Posted by Steve Ham

It could have been classic , with expectation of  a Goal in Arcones at  150km. However, stability put us all down before we could reach the convergence clouds nearer to Avila.

Conditions turning on.

June 13th, 2017 - Posted by Steve Ham

The forecast for this week a few day back was looking a bit sketchy so we pushed hard on arrival day and managed all those 100km+ PBs, before the weather turned. However,  we did manage a bit of soaring at Chia and yesterday and things turned around today with a morning thermal flight at Chia […]
