Still with high SW winds, though may moderate at end of day. Storms rain etc.

I will try to explain the basics of reading the skew T this morning.

Once again the prospects are impossible for safe paragliding. winds of around 40kmhr at take off level, rain and storms.
We could do a sort of paragliding chat, not just me pontificating, but perhaps attempting to answer some PG related questions with the help of the wealth of experience that we have from some of the pilots in the group. Either in the house , or maybe better in the Panera upstairs.
If it is not too wet and we get a steady wind then we could get the kite buggies out later also.

High winds, fronts, storms and rain.
What shall we do? Both vans available for excursions etc.
I will be around at 11 to discuss
The low pressure to our West continues, and will stay there for a while. Today winds in the SW around 15km&hr at take off levels going to around 30km&hr at 3000m. Due to humidity Cu will build readily and congestus is likely to form and maybe storms in late afternoon. Not a perfect scenario, but some possibility for XC flights. Most likely from Lastra. Wind at PN at 9am is over the back, but not too strong. We will see how it develops to see if PN is a possibility.

What Happened.
A nice day with an hour and a half of excellent thermal soaring early on at PN, though then came through hard from the south. Mick went over the pass to near Muñana.
around 6pm we all had a great flight from Lastra at its best. Smooth and easy and bang on. 3 flew back to Piedrahita and a grand fly about for all!
We have a rather stationary low pressure system which sat with us all last week and seems to be staying here for a while longer and perhaps causing more problems for us this week than last.
Today a trough moving through bringing some rain and higher winds. tomorrow is looking reasonable on the forecast for flights from PN.

Last sunday we faced an abysmal forecast, however, apart from Sunday we flew every day and good XCs on every day but Monday and Saturday. Plenty of PBs and over 100km flights from Rob. A great week.
This following week with the Joint Services we have a similar apocalyptic forecast. Lets hope it will pan out the same as last week.
Not disimilar to yesterday initially with similar light winds but much more potential for big Congestus clouds and maybe Cbs. Best to stay in our valley today I should think.

Pre cold frontal, and I imagine we will see some cirrus later in the afternoon. However, light winds from the W.SW. Good thermals to 3200m an initially not too deep Cu. Good for a flight to Avila or circuit between Barco and the Pass..
Nil wind at PN at 8 am. Should come on easy at PN. Probably a slow start again so no rush. Briefing around 11 .

WSW at the windsock at 9am, so likely to come onto the main launch at PN. Local forecast shows lessening risk of cloud and rain, though the skew T seems to indicate otherwise. We will see, but initially looks like another XC day. Decision time at 11am, but briefing around 10.30 ish.

Not a bad day with nice climbs and Cu. Brian did Barco and back then to Bonilla. Many of the others over the Pass and near Avila.
Maybe a little more wind and less cloud initially. I suggest we go to Lastra a little earlier. There is a little more west in the wind, so going to the E of Salamaca today and if possible more to the E of Robs track just in case we need to go through the gap south of Salamanca. This should drake at least 2 days this week with conditions better than the Malverns!

Nice conditions with less Cu than yesterday and more of a Westerly. Most landed due to exhaustion , Brian and Rob best at 90km
