Moderate SW wind and a strong convergence along the mountains. Strong chance of Cbs. A mild chance of a decent flight late this evening.
Tomorrow is looking good….also after that.
A day trip to Salamanca for those interested?

Westlies, not too strong and base over 3000m. However, the general situation begins to become more complex and unstable. Likely build up of congestus and possible Cbs at the end of day especially in the convergence. The Hirlam surface winds show an interesting convergence on the E side of the pass at 11am. convergence later extends along the mountain range. It may be a day to keep N of the convergence if there is OD in the Avila valley.
What happened.
Quite an early build to congestus in the Avila valley, however, Tim and Thomas decided to cross. Thomas making a long flight into the quartering headwind to near Segovia

(Tin Tin. I will be around just before 10am when the shop opens. I need to buy a large bodkin at the sewing shop to make the line loop.)
A reasonable day with a bit more wind than yesterday, once again, a little too farf to the north to make a good open XC day, but for sure flights to Avila, and with a struggle, beyond. Inversion around 2600 early in the day but rising to over 3000 m later in the afternoon. According to the skew T it is a blue day, but once again cloud will appear along the convergence lines.

Here is the link for Mike’s day last Friday:
A reasonable day starting out light but the wind getting up from the NW later in the day. Probable day for Avila, maybe more. There may be a bit more N in the Avila valley than we would like, so slow progress. A good day to come a way back from Avila. Inversion at 2600 early on, getting better as the afternoon goes on. Much better than yesterday for climbs.

A weak cold front going through to day. the winds generally in the NW with convergence to the south. It’ll get windy around Avila so no going beyond there. It is also inverted just above take off till daly on with conditions not really developing well to late afternoon. A flight of 60km is on, but you will need to work hard for it.

Surface winds and convergence early afternoon
Winds back around to the west and will get a bit strong later in the afternoon. As long as you go early this is a decent day for Avila/Villacasting. Inversion around 3000m. Convergence, but back in the mountains and above the main ridge in our valley. I´ll pick you up in Avila on the way back from the airport!

Post cold frontal with a light E component low down. Generally NE, but with convergences and varying winds depending upon the topography. Light NW above the boundary layer. Not too high early on due to an inversion around 2600m, but climbs to 3000m by the end of the afternoon. Barco and back, or more interestingly towards Puente de Congosto, Barco and then back would be nice.
A very nice day with a triangle set via Puente de Congosto, Baco and Home. Tin Tin just about 5km short of finishing and Ian and I about 9km short. A super nice day with light winds and apparently a tailwind all the way round but for the last 10km.
