Not a bad day with light winds but a a little inverted and no big height gains.  Local flying with the best by Stu with a reasonably large circuit  with a flight to near the Pass and Barco and returning.

Not a bad looking day with a lighter N NE flow, probably NW in the valley with climbs reaching upper 2000m, maybe 3000m by the end of the afternoon .   Good for local circuits, even Barco and Back.

Not a brilliant day.  similar thermic conditions to yesterday, mainly blue and improving as the day goes on.  However, the wind is once again a problem as it  will pick up again considerably.  An explanation can be seen of that in my little animation from a few years ago https://vimeo.com/64294975

Also if we look at the Rasp over time for surface or average boundary layer winds we will see it quite clearly.  So, a good open XC for the Brave, a flight to Barco for the mildly intrepid.

Yesterday the NE wind kept us local with a flight to Barco by Catherine and Stu, with a few others landing on the way out of choice before the wind picked up.  Great evening flying as the wind pulled more onto the hill allowing a run of the whole mountain with restitution in the valley.

A few PBs yesterday with climbs to 3200m and sufficient SW to go beyond Avila.  Rob and Ian (PB) in the upper 80s, Tommy (PB) Past Avila, Nigel near Villacastin at around 76km, Stu near Avila, and a load of us cast to the ground after the Pass.  A special mention in dispatches for Gary with a classic low save near Piedrahita!

Today we have strong winds either side of us as the wind channels around the mountain range at Avila and Bejar.  The trigger temps is lower, though we have some lower inversions around 2200m early on.  Thermal heights later towards 3000m, but more so in the mountains and we will have trouble getting much above 2300m.  With a high base GOING OVER THE BACK would be a nice options, but without it then we have to accept a flight to Barco or the Tornavacas Pass with an early landing if things get windy.

We still have lingering some of the suspended dust in the air, but much clearer with lighter winds which will allow us to fly PN.  A general NW flow on our side of the mountains with convergence very much behind us on the mountain chain.

Mainly  blue but clouds likely in the mountain at around 3000to 3300m.

Early on an inversion around 2200m, but improving as the day goes on with likely climbs to 3000m later in the day.  The NW wind may restrict our progress to this side of Avila.

The Calima seems to be moving away and the winds dropping. We managed an evening soar with a 9.5 km glide down the valley to make things a bit more interesting.

Not a good day but with the heat starting to drop and the dusty air perhaps reducing.  Too strong to contemplate this morning, but late afternoon does seem OK.

A day for going to La Lastra again with strongish SW flow.  If we look at rasp, then perhaps too strong, but the Spanish Meteo site is show less wind.  Liely convergence in Avila Valley and after Avila moving more NE.  Less base and less chance of clouds today except in the convergence areas.  Once again we shall go around 10.15, briefing around 9.50.
