101 km for Singas
NW flow yesterday and N wind low at Avila which stopped many, however, Singas pushed on to the 100km mark towards Segovia and a flew made it quite a way back to the Pass. unfortunately, John, had a bad landing fracturing his hip.

A good forecast for open distance flying, though very sinky after Pass for the second group. Stu and myself very early at Avila but trapped by North flow, though Tim took the convergence more to the north and made a fast flight to near Villacastin.
A very pleasant day with little geostrophic wind, a head wind at Avila made us decide to land there.: 9 of us. Then a swift retrieval for some evening flying. Climbs today to 3000m. Things seem to be picking up for the next days.
Most of the group in Barco, though a few brave souls did venture down to Plasencia via the Bejar mountains.
Not a great day with climbs little above 2300 and an increasing NW wind. Most landed at Barco, some 20kms, with a few extending up towards the Tornavacas Pass. Great floaty evening flying with dynamic lift up to 600m above take off.
Turnaround day for us, so limited goal to Avila (55km). 2 in goal and David a bit past Munogalindo. Both picked up by Steve on way back from Airport shuttle. Good evening flying though breezy early on.

With the north west flow and climbs not generally above 2900m it was a bit of a struggle but David, Tim and myself arrived at the declared goal next to the Segovia Hospital. Next back was 100km for SinGas, then john and Carl at around 67km and just near Avila, Martin. 4 others over the Pass, but bombing soon after, as did a few just before. Below one of the goal tracks.
Best flight from the XC Calendario was 286km by Blay Olmos.
With not such an epic forecast, but light winds and a strong convergence in the Avila valley, 7 of us managed to do the trip to Avila and back. From a group of 15, all but one made it over the pass and of those only one failed to reach Avila, the rest returning a good deal with flights around 70km.
A great day, and the weather sets to improve. One of the track logs (Canadian Dave) below.
After 2 windy days of South wind today we got to fly Peña Negra. A fair bit of wind especially just after the pass. Today we were joined by the Candelario Open XC event. Candelario tends to be a more fickle site, so they all ended up with us at Piedrahita. Best flights amonst the competitors around 192km. Amongst our clients the best was Sin Gas (from Japan) who made 82km and Rob Simpson who got towards the north of Avila. Weather improving over coming days
take off today, with the extra pilots from the Candelario comp
