Mega conditions. Ligth winds to Cu at 4000m. 100km for Jakub

September 11th, 2010 - Posted by Steve Ham

A fantastic day with hardly any wind but big easy climbs to 4000m. Fantastic Cu in streets along the Ambles valley, but we turned at the Pass. Paul Russell, veteran of Piedrahita of about 15 years and our very best client, headed along back to the NW along the N side of the valley with […]

Light N and a trip over the back

September 10th, 2010 - Posted by Steve Ham

A blue day with slow conditions again. We started out going toward the corrals to the E, turning around after 6km then going towards Barco. Never getting more that around 200m above the top we finally got some bigger climbs as we reached the Barco valley. Paul bombed Nr San Lorenzo and I decided to […]

3 flights again and a trip to Barco

September 9th, 2010 - Posted by Steve Ham

Quite stable conditions with a light N wind and climbs to only around 2200m without Cu. I flew a tandem passenger to Barco, Tim also making Barco and back to La Aldeauela de Santa Cruz. Paul and Adrian bombed after Santiago, the rest landing around Piedrahita. Nice evening conditions again.

Another one of those Sundays

September 5th, 2010 - Posted by Steve Ham

A long day in Madrid for me, Taking Martin in at 7am, and collecting at 5pm. Our new arrivals, two groups from Belgium, adding to Adrian, Paul, Jacob from last week. Not flyable today, though if somebody had got away, it looked pretty epic (20lm/hr + from SW with convergence). Looking tricky tomorrow.

Task 7. Epic Cu filled sky. Light NW-W-SW

September 5th, 2010 - Posted by Steve Ham

The last day of the XC Open and classic conditions. What to do? A short task to have the prize giving and scoring done at a realistic time, or leave it open and allow the pilots to come here to do what they want?. The latter wins out and predictably there are pilots beyond 160km. […]

Task 6. Light W-NW, to 3000m+ with 2/8 Cu

September 3rd, 2010 - Posted by Steve Ham

An intially light day but developing to classic.  Today in our little team Adrian has a great day reaching Avila then going south.  Also Jocob, having had a few bad days this week, finally gets it together for a trip to Avila.  Yet another day on the ground for me, though I do get to […]
