Another PB for Pete with 100km +

June 23rd, 2016 - Posted by Steve Ham

A similar day to yesterday for  the conditions with the whole gang getting out of La lastra.  Most made around 30 to 40 but after this distance the conditions really picked up with climbs to around 3600m and a convergence running N to beyond the horizon.

Excellent Day. Light SE. 3000m

June 21st, 2016 - Posted by Steve Ham

Looks like a day with a lot of potential for an interesting XC.  A convergence of winds running North with potential thermal tops around 300om.  Winds light for the SE so will probably come onto Peña Negra.  However, if at 11.30 they are significant from the SE we may go to the Chia take off.

Weather for today 20th June. Not bad!

June 20th, 2016 - Posted by Steve Ham

A reasonable soaring forecast for XC. A lighter N NE flow with upslopes of our mountain obviously working well later in the day.  No useful convergence effects and climbs to around 2700m later in the afternoon.  Good for a flight to Barco or Tornavacas Pass and possible return. I will be around at 10.30, probable […]

Forecast Saturday 18th June

June 18th, 2016 - Posted by Steve Ham

A reasonable day with good thermal climbs to around 2600m later in the day.  Winds around 20km from the NNE which will make crossing the Pass to Avila not a good idea.  Good for flights to Barco and to the Tornavacas Pass, and possibly towards Plasencia, though I would prefer a higher base for that. […]

A better day

June 17th, 2016 - Posted by Steve Ham

Certainly an improvement.  Lighter winds and good thermal development.  At them moment the depth of cloud is a worry.  Risks of storms and rain are more likely to the East of us.  So, we may be lucky!

Weather for today.

June 16th, 2016 - Posted by Steve Ham

As can be expected it is not good,  with more instability rain and possible storms…not forgetting the high winds.  However, the trough shown near us mid day moves away by the end of the day and there is a lightening of the winds and less stability.  So, might be ok for an evening flight at […]

WNW wind. A lot stronger than I like!

June 14th, 2016 - Posted by Steve Ham

Likely convergence over the Gredos mountains and acceptable winds earlier on at Peña Negra.  A post cold frontal situation with likely Cu development later on but also more wind in the afternoon.  The RASP page is not loading at the moment, hopefully before briefing we can get a bit more detail.  Looks like we shall […]

Forecast maps 11th June

June 11th, 2016 - Posted by Steve Ham

Once again a good soaring day with light winds from the NW to N. There should be the convergence area around Muñogalindo today.  Quite a marked inversion around take off height, but with top temps around 25 degrees c we may see thermal tops around 2600m.  perhaps a day to cross the Pass to Muñogalindo […]

Flying weather Friday 10th.

June 10th, 2016 - Posted by Steve Ham

Looking like a fresher day with more instability and better themal quality.  Winds moving around from NW to N as the day progresses.  Probably best for circuit flying towards Barco.
