Classic open distance SW convergence day

Today we have the conditions which made Piedrahita famous as a big XC venue. With the SW flow we have a convergence running across the Avila vally then out to the NE across the flatlands.

An inversion around 2700m will slow things, but we should get climbs to 300om+ metres again.  However, the big negative, (or positive if you are a long distance crazed maniac) is the wind strength.  The forecast winds are on the limit in my opinion.  We will have to make the decision at the site.  Winds will be ferocious later in the day at Lastra   and may be cross on at Peña Negra by 1pm in the lee of the wind.  This is common and we do fly regularly from Peña Negra in these conditions.  However, dust devils are common at launch, an it can be a turbulent ride until you find the first climb out on the spines.

We are likely to get going early to Lastra to check it there first .  Same plan as yesterday really.
