c3000m. Blue thermals and S wind

Noon

A somewhat different flying perspective than we have had for some time. No deep depresion over the Uk and absecne of upper level strong westerlies. Nevertherless, quite a complex distribution of low pressures and frontal systems ruining much of the soaring over Europe. We however seem to have reasonable conditiions with a S flow and good thermal quality. The wind may come on at PN but we will go directly to the sotherly site to ensure we have the best opportuunity. This means we should be leaving the house by 11am.

What Happened?
A bit windy at Lastra but we finally got away near 4pm.  Simon, Nick, Steve and Rob successfully climbing on the other side, but Simon going down on N side of Piedrahita valley.  Some climbs to over 3600m later and we did a zig zag ending up at Peñaranda de Bracamonte
