2900m light winds

August 13th, 2008 - Posted by Steve Ham

A pleasant early flight with gentle climbs around town. On the XC we didn´t get going till after 3 as things were very calm. I bombed on the tandem at the cemetery, but Graham, Kieth, Nigel and Brian went over the pass, though choosing to land at around the 30km mark so the others could […]

Big evening restitution

August 12th, 2008 - Posted by Steve Ham

Too windy all day, but with great Cus. A classic evening restitution flight with all the gang going down to the zig zag and back, returning to Piedrahita 1000m above it and having to loose height as the sun was well down when we landed. Tomorrow promises a return of good XC weather.

Thanks very much for the Dunstable boys for the book you send via Amazon.  The problem with all the flyable days we have been getting are that nobody gets to finish their books, leaving me with very little to read,

Windy forcast but strangely OK.

August 11th, 2008 - Posted by Steve Ham

This year throughout July and August it has been phenomenally flyable with very few days lost to wind. Even on days with high wind forcasts we seem to fly. Today the forcast for sure was for doing something else, yet from 9am the wind was lightly on the hill so we went up at 10.30 […]

First Warré Harvest

August 6th, 2008 - Posted by Steve Ham

Today I made my first harvest from a Warre hive. The hive was the very first I set up, using a conversion board to allow the colony set up in a framed Langstroth hive to grow down into the smaller Warre box. After filling two boxes, the colony seems to have slowed down its development, […]
