A grand (flying) day out.
for our final day, after a week of stealing a flight here and there amongst generally poor conditions, the Saturday came up with some very pleasant thermic and light wind conditions allowing us 4 flights during the day, with small XC excursions along the valley towards the pass, and a classic evening restitution flight, ridge running to the corrals and back and then finally landing in the Long Bar. A great finish from our mainly Yorkshire group of X- and current PG Nationals marshalls, though a great shame that the hoped for epic days never happened. The coming week is looking very good from Tuesday onwards. Light winds from the SW so some convergence days expected.

Well I’m back home in Blighty and guess what? The sun is shining, light Northerly wind and good looking sky. I bet the guys have been going XC from Model Ridge today – Arrh!.
Despite the windy, fickle weather of the last week, I would like to thank Steve, Puri and all the other pilots (Colin, Andrew, Rob, Mike, Alan, Jon, Mark and Paul for making a frustrating week very enjoyible. Once again Steve worked like a trooper to make sure we made the most of every opportunity to fly and the last day was “testament” (in pun there) to that work rate. I think we must have all been so low at that point.
The walking, rafting, trips to Salamanca, kiting, entertaining debating sessions (thanks to Jon and Paul) and even some ground handling ensured we were never bored – the flying – well, Hey Hum, that’s paragliding for you and most unlike Piedrahita. I for one will certainly be back next year with the hope of some better luck with the weather.
The verdict of a holiday with FlyPiedratia.Com – An absolute bargain in my opinion, the completely professional, yet laid back and extremely friendly setup does them credit and the best flying holidays I have ever had which is why I will be back every year for more.
Thanks guys and good luck to Colin for next week, you can’t be unlucky two weeks running.
All the best, Phil.
