Flight to Bonilla

An early start with a low cloud base but surprisingly pleasant thermal conditions with a light westerly. Half hour after take off some lower Cu formed out in front of take off which was fun to fly over and around. We had a window of about 45 minutes with improving conditions and nice climbs in the valley. Many of the group flew down the valley, and Keith and I, after a lowish save near Mesegar, flew onto Bonilla. Although we got to Bonilla high, on the transition towards Tortoles Keith went down. I flew up to Tortoles, and started making my way back to Piedrahita. However, rain was now coming in from the west, and already just short of Piedrahita, so I flew back to Bonilla for a low pass over the Cathedral before landing near Keith.

Today the Posters arrived at the town hall for the competitions this year and can be now seen up in many of the shops and bars. Very nice too, with a great shot by Mark Hayman of an Ozone Mantra over Avila on an epic day.

The weather is set to improve, though slowly. On the news yesterday, they said this is the wettest May for over a century
