The world wide pandemic caused a few problems during the 2020 season, but as far as the day to day running and flying XC, we were able to operate as normal, apart from wearing masks where required and following cleaning protocols in the guesthouse.
The main problem was the travel to and from Spain, particularly the quarantine restrictions. We opened the bookings for 2021 early so that those who could not make it could move their booking to 2021.
In 2021 we will continue to operate as usual from the end of May to the end of September and look forward to seeing you. Hopefully there will be something of a return to normality and a significant improvement in circumstances affecting international travel.
Welcome to flyPiedrahita. Within this website you will find information about paragliding and hang gliding in Piedrahita the legendary flying site in Spain.
Whether you make your visit with us or arrange your own trip, we hope that this website will give you the essential information you need and a flavour of this unique and wonderful place, Piedrahita.
We have played an important part in the growth of Piedrahita as one of the most famous sites in the world, pioneering flying routes, organising some of the worlds premier events and escorting hundreds of pilots on their early XC adventures.
We hope you enjoy our website and find it interesting and useful.
Airport collection and return, breakfast and accommodation, an evening meal, retrieves along the day's specified route, guidance, instruction and XC tandem flights if desired. All this is described in detail in our bookings section.
We also arrange alternative activities if the weather is bad and can offer white water rafting/kayaking, power kiting, kite and windsurfing and trips to Salamanca or Avila at no extra cost and other activities such as horse riding and skiing as an extra.
The flying is a mixture of mountain and flatland flying. The area is famed for its convergence, high altitude and easy XC and soaring conditions for both low airtime and expert alike.
We do our utmost to ensure you get the maximum from each flying day. This gives opportunities to those looking to get to grips with their first thermals during the morning and evening flights, as well as to those chasing their XC personal bests during the stronger convective part of the afternoon.
