Themed Weeks

This year we are orgainsing several weeks with particular themes:

  • Family Week : During Easter we are planning a walking week for families with children. Walks will all be suitable for children from 5 to 10 years old and will include visits to all the relevant places and natural environments in the area. The structure of the week will follow the same principle as our easy walking weeks, but the walks will all have some special interest that will appeal to children. 26th March - 3rd April, 450€/week.
  • Sierra de Francia Tour : For fit walkers looking for a different and fulfilling experience combined with top quality accommodation. 29th August - 3rd September, 620€.
  • Spanish experience week in Piedrahita : The most affordable way to learn Spanish in Spain and enjoy a holiday in the heart of the country. 10th -17th October, 470€.
  • Bird Watching Week : Short walks along the routes where we are likely to enjoy the most common species in the area. Habitats include pinewoods, mountain peat marshes, pastures and scrubland, Pyrenean and Holm oak woods, along mountain streams or the river banks of the Tormes or near rocky outcrops where birds of prey and vultures nest. Dates on demand. 530€.

Level of Difficulty

The level of difficulty will vary depending of the week of choice.

  • Easy: Physically undemanding. Routes range from 5-9Km/day, with not much uphill walking and easy terrain. Aimed at walkers looking for pleasant country walking, combined with culture trips to places of interest.
  • Moderate: Some degree of fitness is required. Routes ranging from 8-12Km/day, with hill scramble, uneven terrain and some climbing. Aimed at fit walkers looking for extremely varied landscape within the range of their capabilities.
  • Difficult: Only for people who practise some kind of sport and do mountain walking regularly. Big climbs, long distances and a brisk walking. Aimed at more adventurous hill walkers they include some classic climbing routes in the Gredos Mountains with professional mountain guides. Organised only on demand.

The birdwatching week would qualify as easy and the Sierra de Francia Tour as moderate.

Most days, lunch will be a picnic to be enjoyed sometime along our journey.

On arrival we will have a briefing explaining the possibilities and we will adapt to people's needs and wishes.

The weather is also an important factor, as depending on the light of the day or cloudbase level one route may be more suitable than another.
